I am Charity Akampurira
A Ugandan counselor with a deep passion for walking alongside individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s challenges, heal from pain, and move toward meaningful and fulfilling lives.
I recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental HealthCounseling from Denver Seminary (USA) and currently reside in the United States as I pursue professional licensure. Alongside this, I offer online counseling services to Ugandans living in Uganda, providing accessible, culturally sensitive, and professionally grounded care.
My academic background includes:
Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling – Denver Seminary, USA
Master of Arts in Biblical Studies – Westminster Seminary California, USA
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling – Kyambogo University, Uganda
This blend of clinical training, theological education, and lived cross-cultural experience shapes the way I approach counseling.
My Counseling Approach
I offer person-centered, trauma-informed counseling that is grounded in evidence-based clinical practice and deeply respectful of each client’s cultural background, personal story, and belief system.
At the heart of my work is the belief that every person matters, and every story matters. No matter your background, struggles, or faith journey, you deserve to be seen, heard, and known. I believe this is foundational to meaningful healing and lasting change.
My work is especially informed by:
Attachment-based therapy
Family systems theory
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for its practical, action-oriented tools
Trauma-informed care
Person-centered counseling, meeting clients where they are
Because people are complex and unique, I do not use a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, my approach is person specific; I tailor treatment to each individual’s needs, goals, and context, whether faith is central to your life or not.
Faith & Clinical Integration
My counseling practice integrates Christian faith and clinically researched therapeutic approaches in a thoughtful and respectful way. I believe faith can be a powerful and life-giving part of healing, growth, and God’s vision for human flourishing.
At the same time, I work with clients from all belief systems. Faith is never forced. Instead, it is incorporated only in ways that align with the client’s values and goals.
I believe we are all created in the image of God, and because of that, every life has dignity, worth, and purpose. Our stories matter, and with God’s help, and the right support, our stories can be reshaped in ways that lead to deeper wholeness, healthier relationships, and more fulfilling lives.
What You Can Expect
In our work together, you can expect:
A safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space
